Essential Travel During Covid-19

Mike • Apr 23, 2020

What it means & what counts as essential travel during the Covid-19 lock down / restrictions

Essential travel does not include visits to second homes, camp sites, caravan parks or similar places, either for isolation or holidays. Government guidance around the most recent lock down measures suggests for now you should stay at home as much as possible, and keep approx 1.5m apart from anyone outside of your household.

The law says people should not leave their house without a “reasonable excuse”. You can however go shopping for basic necessities, such as food and medicine, as infrequently as possible. You can also leave the house to care for elderly or vulnerable people, such as dropping shopping or medication at their door, as long as you have no coronavirus symptoms.

There are a few exceptions around why you can leave the house, but simply put, if you don’t have a reasonable excuse to leave the house, it is illegal to do so.

In saying this and knowing it is important to STAY HOME – when travel restrictions are lifted, we know Australians will want to travel local!

We will be welcoming guests from near & afar and will run a promotion on our properties in the coming months, so stay tuned to find out more!

Our properties are professionally cleaned, sanitised and disinfected after each guest to ensure complete cleanliness.

Winter is mostly spent at home for relaxing and staying comfortable. Usually, Aussies like to escape the frosty temperatures by moving North. But there is no better time to enjoy an Aussie getaway than in Winter. With only half of the nation experiencing the cold spell, the other half of the country is warm and dry. In Australia, we are lucky enough to have the option to relish both a tropical holiday or a snowy adventure. Here are some of our great Aussie Winter holiday destinations – bearing in mind some changes may apply due to COVID-19. ULURU – Check out the new Field of Light installation, where artist Bruce Munro has planted more than 50,000 lights in the desert. You can see the display by self-guided tours, on camelback or on a helicopter tour. Uluru Camel Racing Club’s Camel Cup will kick off the 2019 event at the Outback Pioneer Hotel & Bar with boot scooting and entertainment on Friday night, before the big Camel Cup race on Saturday. TOP END – Darwin’s Mindil Sunset Markets run every Thursday and Sunday night throughout the winter months. Dine on a huge range of cuisines from Thai and Sri Lankan to Brazilian and Greek, or shop at market stalls for fashion, jewellery and local craft.Being the dry season, most of the attractions at Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks will be open as there should be minimal flooding. Plus, free movies under the stars! SNOWY MOUNTAINS – With more than 30 artists playing over the four-day event, Peak Music Festival is the official kick-off of the snow season at Perisher. There is normally a range of Australian and international acts across 10 stages at the mountain resort.Experience a white Christmas… in July at Thredbo, where you can watch the big guy in the red suit carve his way down the slopes. They’re called “snowy” for a reason, and the area is the closest place for Australians to go skiing or snowboarding. HAMILTON ISLAND – Watch the flurry of yachts set sail around the Whitsunday Islands during the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, a must for boating enthusiasts.Stinger season ends in May, so feel free to dive into the turquoise waters, explore the colourful underwater reefs, or just enjoy the stunning Whitehaven Beach without slipping into a stinger suit first. With many of our favourite holiday destinations being out of reach this Winter due to travel restrictions, there are fantastic options available closer by. Australians have an adventurous spirit and once the travel restrictions are lifted, will once again start to plan travel in and around Australia. We will be welcoming guests from near & afar and are already taking bookings for the next 6 months. Our properties are also professionally cleaned, sanitised and disinfected after each guest to ensure complete cleanliness. Remember to Look out for one another, Be aware, Be kind and Stay safe!!
